‘Continuing Tsukiji’

Responding to the recently confirmed plans of Tsukiji fish market’s demolition in November 2016, the builing aims to act as a preservational piece of its character and a continuation of its legacy. A project is a hotel for the post-relocation Tsukiji fish market district. Like the market, the building uses an auctioning system – as a method of booking hotel rooms, where guests inspect slices of a hotel room like a dealer assessing a tuna. Each slice becomes a sample of the room’s metaphorical fat content, quality and character.
